During these last two years of the pandemic, albeit isolated and distant, we have had the opportunity to experience something different from our usual path and we are very proud of “Voodoo” which we consider one of our best works.
Side A is inspired by Michael Ventura’s essay “Hear that Long Snake Moan”, which brought forward the idea that “the Voodoo rite of possession by the god became the standard of American performance in Rock’n’Roll” where the performers “let themselves be possessed not by any god they could name but by the spirit they felt in the music.” All the songs have a rock’n’roll soul while maintaining the darkness that always accompanies us and there is a reference to famous rock’n’roll artists.
Working on the songs we realized that there was also a need for a side B that would also give the work a psychedelic spirit that would put a sort of ritual in the music. Thus were born “Papa Legba” and “Voodoo” and what was originally an EP turned into a LP.
